JD Fuquay is a partner at AK Fuquay Construction and the Chief Business Development Officer at Fuquay, Inc. JD oversees all contracts for AK Fuquay and is the general manager of day-to-day company operations. His passion for the construction industry began at an early age, as he grew up admiring the dedication of his grandmother and father to serve the erosion control needs of central Texas. JD worked for the family business during the summer months of high school and college, and after earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&M University in 2014, he moved back to New Braunfels to begin his career at Fuquay. Since, he has dedicated his efforts to working with state legislators to expand opportunities for WBE/DBE companies and developing technologies to advance the construction industry. Within his role as Chief Business Development Officer, JD has worked to educate engineers and state agencies of the advances in trenchless technology and management of underground assets. He also manages Fuquay’s contractor relations, which has been the backbone of the company’s service-oriented mentality for decades. Most recently, JD has designed and developed a VR coating simulator for Fuquay’s rehabilitation crews, and other coating companies across the country, to adequately train confined space applicators and advance the quality of underground coatings.
He serves as a board member for the AGC Central Texas Future Leadership Council and is a member of the Greater Austin Contractors and Engineers Association. Locally, JD is a member of the New Braunfels Area Community Foundation, San Antonio Livestock Exposition Auction Committee, and is a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership New Braunfels Class of 2015. JD lives in New Braunfels with his wife, Arica, and has three children, daughter Penelope and twin sons Louie and Archie.
