When needed, Fuquay, Inc. is a certified installer of numerous cementitious products. These products are sometimes used when severely deteriorated concrete structures are in need of re-profiling prior to the installation of Spraywall. The use of cementious materials is typically used when structures require one inch or greater of concrete replacement.

Bench and Inverts
An important factor to minimize corrosion within a manhole is proper flow and minimal turbulence within the manhole. Fuquay’s manhole rehabilitation division has the experience, knowledge, and specialty materials to rehabilitate bench and inverts and ensure the manholes flow properly once the rehabilitation work is completed.
Inflow and Infiltration Control (I / I)
Infiltration is groundwater, or groundwater that is influenced by surface or subsurface water, that enters sewer pipes (interceptors, collectors, manholes (MH), or side sewers) through holes, breaks, joint failures, connection failures and other openings. Infiltration quantities often exhibit seasonal variation in response to groundwater levels. Storm events can trigger a rise in groundwater levels and increase infiltration flows. The highest infiltration flows are observed following significant storm events or following prolonged periods of precipitation. Inflow is surface water that enters the wastewater system from yard, roof and footing drains, from cross-connections with storm drains, downspouts, and through holes in manhole covers. Inflow occurs as a result of storm events such as rainfall, snowfall, springs or snow melt that contribute to excessive sewer flows. Peak inflow can occur during heavy storm events when storm sewer systems are surcharged, resulting in hydraulic backups and local ponding. Fuquay’s manhole rehabilitation division has the experience and knowledge in the use of specialty concrete and chemical grouts to stop I/I as part of the rehabilitation process.
Internal Drop Installation
Uncontrolled Drop of sewer within a manhole promotes solids separation and manhole wall and bench erosion. Furthermore, the solids and liquids are not carried away and H2S emissions become high increasing maintenance needs for the manhole. Fuquay’s ability to provide and install a controlled drop system and coating/lining system ensures that solids and liquids remain together, erosion of structure is reduced, H2S emissions are reduced and maintenance on the manhole is reduced.
The proper final grade of the manhole ring and cover is important in controlling unwanted infiltration into the manhole. When properly installed and permanently grouted in place grade adjustment rings create a structural adjustment system to insure the casting is set at the proper grade and a barrier to infiltration. Fuquay’s manhole rehabilitation division has the experience and knowledge to recognize problems with improper grade and provide solutions, materials, and experienced crews to rectify the issue.
Ring and Cover
Ring and covers that have deteriorated due to corrosion, are cracked from age or abuse, or are simply improperly installed are a contributing factor to the deterioration of sewer manholes and sewer systems. These issues promote inflow and infiltration into the manhole, as well as, allow objects into the sewer system that should not be in the system creating issues for manholes, wastewater lines, and wastewater plants. Fuquay’s manhole rehabilitation division has the experience and knowledge to recognize problems with ring and covers and provide solutions, materials, and experienced crews to rectify the issue.
Fuquay can provide experienced crews to inspected and assess the overall condition of structures and to identify and locate possible defects, such as cracks and broken seals, Inflow and infiltration, improper flow, wall and bench condition, and the overall structural condition of the manhole. Fuquay can also provide GPS location coordinates as part of their condition assessment of manhole structures. Our experienced staff can also provide training to assist local sewer system operators and engineering firms in assessing their own systems.
Unwanted rainwater adds to the cost of an operator’s wastewater treatment. The installation of insert dishes reduces the flow of rainwater into sewer systems, helps control manhole odors, and aids in reducing unwanted debris from entering the sewer system. Fuquay’s manhole rehabilitation division has the experience and knowledge to recognize where inflow dishes should be installed and can provide solutions, insert dish material options, and experienced crews to install the insert dishes to rectify issues.
A critical component of rehabilitation projects is the design and construction of efficient temporary by-pass pipeline systems to divert flow from segments of pipe being rehabilitated or replaced so that vital services to residences and businesses are not interrupted during construction. For projects containing large-diameter pipes, the bypass system itself is a major project. Pumps and pumping systems have a critical role in assuring sewage continues to flow while necessary upgrades are made to the existing infrastructure. Fuquay and its partners have the ability to properly design and size the bypass pumping system. Our experienced crews can also provide, install, and maintain the pumps and piping systems during their operation.
